She's a Fighter!

Two weeks ago I found out that my dearest friend Sandi Glauser has Leukemia.  As soon as I heard the news I headed to LDS hospital and soon realized just how sick she is.  Her cancer is very aggressive and would have taken her life in only a week or two.  Doctors, nurses and technicians were racing around doing tests, taking blood and working hard to get her ready to start chemo.  As I looked in her eyes my heart hurt for the fear she was feeling.  It was one of those moments that do not feel real, like a bad dream that you will soon wake up from, only this wasn't a dream.
So often over the last two weeks my thoughts have been on my friend.  In everything I do I think of her and the wonderful memories of our friendship.  All of us have great friends that we love and adore.  Sometimes we get busy with life and seem to go in different directions, but for the past 20 years Sandi Glauser has been my forever friend.  Because she is a few years older than me, I have always looked to her in every new season of life.  The thing I have learned the most is how to serve. Sandi doesn't just serve like most, she serves with her whole heart, might, mind and strength.  If there is a need she fills it, loves it, cooks for it, cries with it and focuses everything she is on fixing it.  I have never in my life met someone who is such an example of Jesus Christ.  Anyone who knows her will tell you the same thing.  She has been the friend who has been through all of my ups and downs.  She is like a second mother to my kids and can look at me and read my mind if I am having a bad day.
Each time I visit her my heart aches for what she is going through.  I know she has a battle ahead of her and that this pretty much sucks as far as trials go.  But this lady is tough.....tough like prune all of the trees tough, clean out an entire garage basement and house tough, make a gourmet dinner for 30 people tough, and the list goes on and on.  There is really nothing she cannot do, including cancer. So bring it on bad guy because this lady can take you down.....I'm sure of it!!!

The Birthday Couple

Jake loves mac & cheese so I found some pumpkin shaped noodles

October 2nd is Jake & Abbie's birthday! How stinkin cute is that!? Husband and wife with a birthday on the same day.  Their kids won't have trouble remembering mom and dad's b-day, especially with Abbie as their mom.  Abbie starts to talk about and look forward to her birthday about two months prior to the big day.  I love how excited she gets.
Since Demi's b-day is only two days before,  we usually celebrate them all together.  This year we did Demi's a week early while she was home from school.  For Jake and Abbie's we had a yummy dinner at Grandpa & Grandma Hill's house.  We all love the Gregersens big day and so glad we could celebrate with them!

Girlfriends

Birthday lunch at Taggarts!
I've been thinking a lot about how blessed I am to have such great friends in my life.
My dearest girlfriend Sandi was diagnosed with Leukemia this week. (I'll post more in a few days).
She has been my inspiration in life for the past 22 years.  Our friendship has seen our families during many of life's trials, heartaches, and  celebrations!  I don't know what my life would have been like without her in it.  I am so grateful for her and for friends that love, comfort, laugh and cry with us.
Heavenly Father has blessed me with wonderful women to help me through all of life's ups and downs!
