Birthday Girl

Our Dixie girl came home for the weekend to celebrate her birthday.  She drove home on Thursday night and came running in the house around midnight screaming because she was so excited.  I was waiting up for her and Dean and the boys had fallen asleep on the couches.  Her shrill scream woke everyone up and Dean came running expecting to see a stabbing or break in,  Kasen woke in tears thinking Demi had died in a car wreck and I was crying with the news.  It wasn't the reception she was hoping for but once everyone was awake we were excited to see her.  We spent the weekend shopping, eating, going to movies and having everyone over for birthday dinner.  Demi met a guy at Dixie named Beau (yes confusing with a dog named Bo).  He was also home for the weekend and spent some time with us, he is a great guy.  It was good to have our girl home for a few days and celebrate with her.  Happy Birthday Demi Jane!

187!

Yep! You read it right a 187! Last week at bowling I was ready to quit the stupid game and then along came Angie the amazing bowling gal.  Don't know where she has been hiding but for one game at least she was back!  Hope to keep it up!

Recipe Group

After a long summer we decided to start up recipe group.  This is a such a fun night with friends and food!  We take turns hosting and this month it was at Kristy Miles home.  She made delicious pork chops and we all brought the side dishes, drink and dessert.  I love these great ladies and can't wait until next month!

I Love This Boy!

So after I write this post I'm going to knock on wood so that I don't jinx myself.  I decided that as of late I really do love this boy.  I guess I should say like this boy because I've never stopped loving him only stopped liking him.  But for the last two months I can honestly say that he is very enjoyable.  The kid makes me laugh so hard and has been working his big butt off.  He is taking HARD classes, playing football and coaching his little brothers football team.  He leaves at 7 am and gets home around 8 pm and seems to love it.  Choosing to go to Clearfield was a bit of a shock to our family but he knew it was what was best for him.  He knew he would be leaving an awesome Syracuse sophomore team and playing for a struggling Clearfield team. Ryker has not regretted his decision.  He loves football and never complains about going straight to the park to coach the 12 yr. olds.  Clearfield has lost most of their games but Ryker has played great and even made a touchdown last week.  This was exciting because he doesn't really play offense he is a linebacker on defense so we were dang excited for him.  Anyway I decided I needed to write down that I love this handsome kid because next week it might change.  And so goes having a teenager in the home.

Labor Day Weekend

We had a great weekend with friends, family & Kim (Mike's joke)! After Kasen's game on Saturday we headed up to Park City for a little get away.  We made a stop in Midway at Swiss Days. We all decided that by the time we arrived all of the treasures were sold out, everything else was the same stuff or as
Dean says "same crap different year".  We then went to our rental house.  It was a nice big place with plenty of rooms and bathrooms for everyone. We had a fun night visiting and watching football.  Sunday we had a BBQ at Wasatch campground with Grandma & Grandpa Hill and  Aunts: Carol & Vicki and families.  Uncle Paul took Brad, Kim and kids on a LONG Geo cash.  They found their treasure and the little girls got some blisters on their feet.  Sunday night we headed back to the house and played the Wolf game (which I am amazing at.....just ask Jake).
Monday we went to the annual Miners Day Parade and met up with all of the Westenskow family.  It was so good to see cousins and babies.  We also had a our annual BBQ at Uncle Jim's place in Deer Valley.  It was a great weekend spent with friends and family that we love dearly!!!

Salsa Time!

We canned 68 of these puppies on Saturday before football and Monday night!  We  boiled, peeled and chopped.... the result was beautiful!  We all love salsa and enjoy canning it.  It always looks so good on the shelf.  Abbie came by on Monday night and helped out.  We gave her some to take home.  I think this is the one item she is glad that she doesn't have to share with Jake.

Dean does all of the hard work, chopping the onions and jalapeno's and the long work of processesing the jars.  I told him that not many men put in a hard days work, coach football 5 days a week, keep a beautiful yard and do the canning! Yep, I am a lucky women.

IVY

  • This little sweetheart is so cute.  Abbie went to Smedley's and kidnapped her for a few hours and stopped by to play.  We gave her a cracker (I don't think she eats those yet) and she kind of chocked! We decided she was like her Aunt Angie and would love sugar so we gave her a licorice and she loved it!
